About UAH/USD
UAH/USD prices the Ukrainian hryvnia against the US dollar, and on Sky Trade it exists only as an OTC instrument. Its price is generated by Sky Trade's server 24/7: it does not follow the official rate of the National Bank of Ukraine, interbank quotes or the rates at Ukrainian exchange offices. The background below is for context only.
Notice the direction of the quote. Most people in Ukraine see the rate as USD/UAH — how many hryvnias a dollar costs. UAH/USD is the inverse: how many dollars one hryvnia buys. Because one hryvnia is worth a small fraction of a dollar, the number is small (0.024 would mean 1 UAH = 0.024 USD), and Sky Trade shows five decimals to make movements visible. A rising UAH/USD means a stronger hryvnia.
In the real world the hryvnia does not float freely the way the euro or the yen do. The National Bank of Ukraine (NBU) manages it: after February 2022 the NBU fixed the official rate, and in October 2023 it moved to a regime of managed flexibility, letting the rate move while intervening to smooth fluctuations. Real-world drivers include NBU decisions, international financial support, the trade balance and, above all, the war.
None of those factors reach the OTC chart. UAH/USD OTC is a mathematical price series, and its moves say nothing about the real hryvnia.
How to trade UAH/USD on Sky Trade
- 1Open the terminal and choose the demo account to practise, or the real account if you have deposited.
- 2Pick UAH/USD in the instrument list — the market and OTC versions are listed separately, each with its current payout.
- 3Set the stake and the expiry: a duration (for example 1 minute) or an exact closing time.
- 4Press Buy if you expect the price at expiry to be above the entry price (a “higher” trade), or Sell if you expect it below (a “lower” trade). The payout is fixed at the moment you open.
- 5At expiry the server compares the closing price with the entry price: in your direction — stake plus payout; against you — the stake is lost; exactly equal — the stake is refunded.
Frequently asked questions
What is the payout on UAH/USD at Sky Trade?
UAH/USD pays 84–94% of the stake on a winning trade; 94% applies when it is one of the two rotating OTC leaders. The terminal shows the current value before you open a trade, and it stays fixed for that trade.
When can I trade UAH/USD?
UAH/USD is available on Sky Trade only as an OTC instrument, so it can be traded 24/7, including weekends and holidays.
Does UAH/USD OTC follow the real market?
No. The OTC price is generated by Sky Trade's server with a random-walk model and is not taken from any bank or exchange, so it can differ from the real UAH/USD rate at any moment.
What is the minimum stake and expiry for UAH/USD?
The minimum stake is $1 and the maximum is $50,000 (default limits). Expiry ranges from 5 seconds on OTC and 30 seconds on market pairs up to 4 hours.
Does UAH/USD OTC follow the NBU official rate?
No. The OTC price is generated by Sky Trade's server and is unrelated to the official rate, interbank trading or exchange offices.
Why is the UAH/USD number so small?
It shows the value of one hryvnia in dollars rather than the more familiar dollar price in hryvnias. One hryvnia is a small fraction of a dollar, so the quote is well below 1.
Can I see my Sky Trade balance in hryvnias?
Yes, amounts can be displayed in UAH, among other currencies. The balance itself is stored in US dollars, and this display setting has nothing to do with trading UAH/USD OTC.
