NZD/CAD OTC is a separate price series generated by Sky Trade's server. It does not follow the real NZD/CAD exchange rate.

About NZD/CAD

NZD/CAD is listed on Sky Trade only in its OTC form. The price you see is generated by Sky Trade's server 24/7 and is not taken from the interbank market, so it does not track the real New Zealand dollar–Canadian dollar rate. What follows describes the real-world pair as background.

In the real market the pair shows how many Canadian dollars one New Zealand dollar buys — 0.83 would mean 1 NZD = 0.83 CAD — and a pip is 0.0001. It is an unusual cross between two commodity exporters that sell very different things. New Zealand's income leans on dairy, meat and other agricultural products, with China and Australia among its key buyers; the Reserve Bank of New Zealand sets its rates. Canada's leans on crude oil, sold mostly to the United States; the Bank of Canada sets its rates. So the real pair tends to reflect farm prices against energy prices, plus the gap between the two central banks. Liquidity is thin, because relatively few participants need to exchange these two currencies directly.

None of that touches NZD/CAD OTC. Its ticks come from a mathematical model in which up and down are equally likely at each step and volatility shifts slowly over time. Oil inventories, dairy auctions and central-bank meetings are irrelevant to it, and reading the news will not tell you where it goes next.

How to trade NZD/CAD on Sky Trade

  1. 1Open the terminal and choose the demo account to practise, or the real account if you have deposited.
  2. 2Pick NZD/CAD in the instrument list — the market and OTC versions are listed separately, each with its current payout.
  3. 3Set the stake and the expiry: a duration (for example 1 minute) or an exact closing time.
  4. 4Press Buy if you expect the price at expiry to be above the entry price (a “higher” trade), or Sell if you expect it below (a “lower” trade). The payout is fixed at the moment you open.
  5. 5At expiry the server compares the closing price with the entry price: in your direction — stake plus payout; against you — the stake is lost; exactly equal — the stake is refunded.

Frequently asked questions

What is the payout on NZD/CAD at Sky Trade?

NZD/CAD pays 84–94% of the stake on a winning trade; 94% applies when it is one of the two rotating OTC leaders. The terminal shows the current value before you open a trade, and it stays fixed for that trade.

When can I trade NZD/CAD?

NZD/CAD is available on Sky Trade only as an OTC instrument, so it can be traded 24/7, including weekends and holidays.

Does NZD/CAD OTC follow the real market?

No. The OTC price is generated by Sky Trade's server with a random-walk model and is not taken from any bank or exchange, so it can differ from the real NZD/CAD rate at any moment.

What is the minimum stake and expiry for NZD/CAD?

The minimum stake is $1 and the maximum is $50,000 (default limits). Expiry ranges from 5 seconds on OTC and 30 seconds on market pairs up to 4 hours.

Can I use oil or dairy news to trade NZD/CAD OTC?

No. The OTC price is generated by Sky Trade's server and does not respond to commodity prices or any other real-world news.

What does an NZD/CAD quote mean?

It is the number of Canadian dollars one New Zealand dollar buys. A higher number means the kiwi is stronger relative to the loonie.
