About CAD/CHF
CAD/CHF shows how many Swiss francs one Canadian dollar buys: 0.65000 means 1 CAD = 0.65 CHF. The pip is 0.0001. It is one of the less traded crosses, built from two currencies that rarely appear together in the headlines.
The Canadian dollar is a commodity currency, closely tied to oil and to the US economy, which buys most of Canada's exports. The Swiss franc is a defensive currency, supported by Switzerland's stability and its role as a refuge in turbulent times. So CAD/CHF tends to benefit from rising oil and confident markets, and to suffer when oil falls or risk aversion pushes money into the franc.
Policy comes from the Bank of Canada, which meets several times a year, and the Swiss National Bank, which holds its scheduled assessments quarterly. Canadian CPI and the Labour Force Survey, Swiss inflation, SNB statements and oil-market news are the main catalysts. The European–North American overlap is usually the most active window. Because liquidity is thinner than in the majors, the real pair can show sudden jumps on modest flows.
Sky Trade's CAD/CHF OTC is a separate generated price, produced by the server day and night and independent of oil, the BoC and the SNB.
How to trade CAD/CHF on Sky Trade
- 1Open the terminal and choose the demo account to practise, or the real account if you have deposited.
- 2Pick CAD/CHF in the instrument list — the market and OTC versions are listed separately, each with its current payout.
- 3Set the stake and the expiry: a duration (for example 1 minute) or an exact closing time.
- 4Press Buy if you expect the price at expiry to be above the entry price (a “higher” trade), or Sell if you expect it below (a “lower” trade). The payout is fixed at the moment you open.
- 5At expiry the server compares the closing price with the entry price: in your direction — stake plus payout; against you — the stake is lost; exactly equal — the stake is refunded.
Frequently asked questions
What is the payout on CAD/CHF at Sky Trade?
The market version of CAD/CHF pays 67–79% and the OTC version 84–94% of the stake on a winning trade. The exact value changes slowly over time; the terminal shows it before you open a trade, and it stays fixed for that trade.
When can I trade CAD/CHF?
The market version of CAD/CHF is available Monday to Friday while the forex market is open and real quotes are arriving. The OTC version is available 24/7, including weekends.
Does CAD/CHF OTC follow the real market?
No. The OTC price is generated by Sky Trade's server with a random-walk model and is not taken from any bank or exchange, so it can differ from the real CAD/CHF rate at any moment.
What is the minimum stake and expiry for CAD/CHF?
The minimum stake is $1 and the maximum is $50,000 (default limits). Expiry ranges from 5 seconds on OTC and 30 seconds on market pairs up to 4 hours.
What moves CAD/CHF?
Oil prices and Canadian data on one side, safe-haven demand and SNB policy on the other. Broad risk sentiment affects both.
Why can CAD/CHF move abruptly?
It is a lightly traded cross, so in the real market a relatively small flow can move the price more than it would in a major pair.
