About EUR/NOK
EUR/NOK appears on Sky Trade only as an OTC instrument. The price is created by Sky Trade's server around the clock; it is not a quote from any bank and does not follow the real euro–Norwegian krone rate. The real-world background below is there to explain the name, not to help forecast the chart.
In the real market EUR/NOK shows how many Norwegian kroner one euro buys: 11.50 would mean 1 EUR = 11.50 NOK. A pip is 0.0001, and Sky Trade displays this pair with four decimals. Norway's currency is managed by Norges Bank in Oslo. The country is a major producer of oil and natural gas from the North Sea and channels much of that revenue into its sovereign wealth fund, one of the largest in the world. The krone therefore tends to respond to energy prices and to global risk appetite: as a small, less liquid currency it often weakens when investors become cautious, and strengthens when oil and markets are firm. Norges Bank decisions, Norwegian inflation and ECB policy complete the picture, and most real trading happens in European hours.
EUR/NOK OTC ignores all of this. Its price follows a random-walk model whose next move is equally likely to go up or down, with no built-in tilt. The fact that oil rallied today tells you nothing about where EUR/NOK OTC will be in a minute.
How to trade EUR/NOK on Sky Trade
- 1Open the terminal and choose the demo account to practise, or the real account if you have deposited.
- 2Pick EUR/NOK in the instrument list — the market and OTC versions are listed separately, each with its current payout.
- 3Set the stake and the expiry: a duration (for example 1 minute) or an exact closing time.
- 4Press Buy if you expect the price at expiry to be above the entry price (a “higher” trade), or Sell if you expect it below (a “lower” trade). The payout is fixed at the moment you open.
- 5At expiry the server compares the closing price with the entry price: in your direction — stake plus payout; against you — the stake is lost; exactly equal — the stake is refunded.
Frequently asked questions
What is the payout on EUR/NOK at Sky Trade?
EUR/NOK pays 84–94% of the stake on a winning trade; 94% applies when it is one of the two rotating OTC leaders. The terminal shows the current value before you open a trade, and it stays fixed for that trade.
When can I trade EUR/NOK?
EUR/NOK is available on Sky Trade only as an OTC instrument, so it can be traded 24/7, including weekends and holidays.
Does EUR/NOK OTC follow the real market?
No. The OTC price is generated by Sky Trade's server with a random-walk model and is not taken from any bank or exchange, so it can differ from the real EUR/NOK rate at any moment.
What is the minimum stake and expiry for EUR/NOK?
The minimum stake is $1 and the maximum is $50,000 (default limits). Expiry ranges from 5 seconds on OTC and 30 seconds on market pairs up to 4 hours.
Why is EUR/NOK a much bigger number than EUR/USD?
One krone is a much smaller unit than one dollar, so one euro buys many kroner. The size of the number says nothing about strength; only changes in it matter.
Does the oil price affect EUR/NOK OTC?
No. Oil influences the real Norwegian krone, but the OTC price on Sky Trade is generated by the server and does not respond to oil or any other market.
