About AUD/NZD
On Sky Trade, AUD/NZD is available only as an OTC instrument. The price is generated by Sky Trade's server 24/7 and does not track the real Australian dollar–New Zealand dollar rate; the background below describes the real pair for context.
In the real market AUD/NZD shows how many New Zealand dollars one Australian dollar buys — 1.09 would mean 1 AUD = 1.09 NZD — and a pip is 0.0001. The two economies across the Tasman Sea are closely linked by trade, migration and banking, and both depend on exports to Asia, especially China. Much global news therefore affects them similarly and cancels out in this cross. What is left are the differences: Australia's metals, coal and gas against New Zealand's dairy and farm products, and the policy gap between the Reserve Bank of Australia and the Reserve Bank of New Zealand. Both countries publish their data in the Asia-Pacific morning, so the Asian session is the key window for the real pair.
AUD/NZD OTC follows none of that logic. Its price is a random-walk series created by Sky Trade's model, with each tick equally likely to be up or down. A surprising RBA statement or a dairy auction result will not show up on that chart.
How to trade AUD/NZD on Sky Trade
- 1Open the terminal and choose the demo account to practise, or the real account if you have deposited.
- 2Pick AUD/NZD in the instrument list — the market and OTC versions are listed separately, each with its current payout.
- 3Set the stake and the expiry: a duration (for example 1 minute) or an exact closing time.
- 4Press Buy if you expect the price at expiry to be above the entry price (a “higher” trade), or Sell if you expect it below (a “lower” trade). The payout is fixed at the moment you open.
- 5At expiry the server compares the closing price with the entry price: in your direction — stake plus payout; against you — the stake is lost; exactly equal — the stake is refunded.
Frequently asked questions
What is the payout on AUD/NZD at Sky Trade?
AUD/NZD pays 30–94% of the stake on a winning trade; 94% applies when it is one of the two rotating OTC leaders. The terminal shows the current value before you open a trade, and it stays fixed for that trade.
When can I trade AUD/NZD?
AUD/NZD is available on Sky Trade only as an OTC instrument, so it can be traded 24/7, including weekends and holidays.
Does AUD/NZD OTC follow the real market?
No. The OTC price is generated by Sky Trade's server with a random-walk model and is not taken from any bank or exchange, so it can differ from the real AUD/NZD rate at any moment.
What is the minimum stake and expiry for AUD/NZD?
The minimum stake is $1 and the maximum is $50,000 (default limits). Expiry ranges from 5 seconds on OTC and 30 seconds on market pairs up to 4 hours.
Why do AUD and NZD often move together?
Their economies are closely linked and both rely on exports to Asia, so global news affects them in similar ways. In the real AUD/NZD that common part cancels out, leaving the differences between them.
Does AUD/NZD OTC react to the RBA or the RBNZ?
No. The OTC price is generated by Sky Trade's server and has no connection to either central bank.
