ETH/USD: live price, payout and trading hours

Ethereum is a blockchain platform launched in 2015 that lets developers run smart contracts — programs that execute on the network itself. Its native currency, ether (ETH), pays the fees for transactions and contract execution. In 2022 the network switched from proof-of-work mining to proof-of-stake, an event known as the Merge. A large part of decentralised finance and many tokens, including a version of the USDT stablecoin, are built on Ethereum.

On Sky Trade, ETH/USD is offered only as OTC. The price on the chart is generated by Sky Trade's server and does not follow the real price of ether on any exchange; the two can drift apart by any amount. Ethereum network upgrades, gas fees or market news do not touch the OTC chart. Nor are you trading the coin: you do not buy, hold or receive ETH. Each trade is a fixed-payout Higher/Lower position on the generated price, settled in your US dollar balance.

The generated series moves in half-second ticks. Up and down are equally likely at every step, and volatility shifts gradually rather than in response to events. Because there is no real market behind it, crypto news and on-chain metrics are irrelevant.

If ETH appears elsewhere in your Sky Trade experience, it is in the wallet: ether (on Ethereum, Base or Arbitrum) is one of the accepted deposit coins, and ERC-20 is one of the USDT networks. Those are real blockchain transfers and are completely separate from ETH/USD OTC.
