Safe trade on Sky Trade: how the loss-refund perk works

Safe trade returns your stake if a protected real trade loses. Who gets it, stake caps by level, how to switch it on and what does not qualify.

Safe trade is a perk of Sky Trade's trader levels: if a protected trade on your real account loses, your stake is returned. It is a small, limited allowance — one or two trades a month with a capped stake — not a way to trade without risk. Here is exactly how it works.

Who gets safe trades

LevelSafe trades per monthMaximum stake
Start——
Takeoff1$10
Altitude1$50
Stratosphere1$100
Orbit2$200

Your level depends on your credited real deposits this calendar month (UTC). See levels and perks.

How to switch it on

  1. Make sure the Real account is selected. Safe trade does not work on demo.
  2. Set your stake at or below your level's cap.
  3. Turn on the Safe trade switch in the trade panel (on a computer it sits above the Buy/Sell buttons). It shows how many safe trades you have left this month.
  4. Open the trade with Buy or Sell as usual. The trade is marked with a SAFE badge.

The switch protects one trade — the next one you open manually. After that it turns off, and you would need to switch it on again for another protected trade (if you have any left).

If your stake is above the cap, the switch will not protect the trade and the terminal tells you the maximum stake for a safe trade. Lower the stake first.

What happens when the trade closes

  • If it loses: your stake is returned. In the history the trade shows as LOSS with a P&L of 0.
  • If it wins: you receive the normal payout, exactly as for any other trade.
  • If it ties: as with any trade, the stake is refunded.

When the allowance is used

The monthly allowance is used when the trade is opened, not when it loses. A protected trade that wins still uses up your safe trade for the month. That is worth knowing if you were hoping to "save" it for a losing trade — nobody knows in advance which trade that will be.

What safe trade does not cover

  • Demo trades — the perk is real-account only.
  • Copy trading — it does not apply to trades copied to followers.
  • Bonus wagering — safe trades do not count toward the turnover of an active bonus. See bonuses and promo codes.
  • Stakes above the cap — the stake must be at or below your level's maximum.

An example

You are at Altitude, with one safe trade and a $50 cap. You turn on Safe trade, set a $40 stake on EUR/USD and press Buy at an 85% payout.

  • If the price closes above the entry, you get $40 + $34 = $74 back.
  • If it closes below, the $40 stake is returned, and the trade shows LOSS with a P&L of 0.

Either way, your one safe trade for the month has now been used.

Keeping it in perspective

One protected trade a month does not change the underlying maths of trading: payout is below 100%, so your other trades still need a win rate above 50% just to break even. Treat safe trade as a small cushion, not as a reason to raise your stakes or to deposit more to reach a higher level. See payout percentage and risk per trade.

Trading involves a risk of losing capital. Only protected trades are refunded on a loss; every other trade can lose its full stake.
