About INDEX 250
INDEX 250 is a synthetic index created for Sky Trade's OTC section. It does not replicate any real stock index, it contains no shares, and it is not calculated from the prices of any companies. The number on the chart is generated by Sky Trade's server, 24 hours a day, seven days a week.
The name follows the convention of stock indices, and the value is expressed in points with one decimal place. That is where the resemblance ends. A real index rises and falls with the share prices of its members, reacts to earnings, interest rates and economic news, opens and closes with its exchange, and can gap overnight. INDEX 250 has none of these: no members, no earnings season, no opening bell, no dividends and no news flow. The model behind it produces a new tick every half-second; the direction of each step is unpredictable, there is no built-in drift against traders, and its volatility changes slowly over time.
What you cannot do is analyse it like a stock index. Economic calendars, sector rotation and company results do not apply. If you use technical tools on it, remember that on a series generated this way they describe the past rather than forecast the future — and since the payout is always below 100% of the stake, a coin-flip outcome loses money over many trades.

How to trade INDEX 250 on Sky Trade
- 1Open the terminal and choose the demo account to practise, or the real account if you have deposited.
- 2Pick INDEX 250 in the instrument list — the market and OTC versions are listed separately, each with its current payout.
- 3Set the stake and the expiry: a duration (for example 1 minute) or an exact closing time.
- 4Press Buy if you expect the price at expiry to be above the entry price (a “higher” trade), or Sell if you expect it below (a “lower” trade). The payout is fixed at the moment you open.
- 5At expiry the server compares the closing price with the entry price: in your direction — stake plus payout; against you — the stake is lost; exactly equal — the stake is refunded.
