Demo account

A practice account with virtual money that lets you trade on real charts without risking your own funds.

By Sky Trade editorial teamUpdated

A demo account behaves like the real thing — same instruments, same charts, same buttons — but the balance is virtual. It is the right place to learn the interface, test whether an idea survives a few hundred trades and make your first mistakes cheaply.

What demo does not train is emotion. Losing a virtual $50 stings far less than losing a real $50, so many traders find their discipline cracks only when their own money is at stake. Treat demo results as an upper bound, not a promise.

Use it with intent: fix a stake size, a short list of instruments and a set of rules, then log every trade. Resetting the balance after a bad day, or trading wildly “because it's not real”, wastes the one thing demo is good for — honest data.

On Sky Trade every account has a demo with $10,000 in virtual money that you can reset to $10,000 with the ↻ button (not while demo trades are open). Demo uses the same server prices and payouts as real trading. More on the demo account page and in the demo practice plan.

Example

Starting with $10,000 in virtual money, you trade $100 per trade for 300 trades and end at $9,640. That is useful evidence: the method, as tested, does not beat the payout yet.
